Emergencies happen, and something said in vet clinics often during the holidays is……”the owners out of town.”
Be sure to plan ahead and prepare your pet sitter BEFORE leaving for the holidays.
Make sure your pet sitter knows your pets routine, and try to stick with it as best they can. This will alert them if something should be different before noticing too late.
Leave a contact number in case of emergency, as well as a back up number should you be out of reach.
Give your pet sitter veterinary contact information as well as a brief history of your pets health, medication etc.
Leave an after hours emergency clinic number, should your regular clinic be closed.
Have them download the FidoMingle App, giving them access to your records and pet contacts.
Keep in mind that in the event of emergency, just because they go to your veterinarian, does not mean your vet will hold the cost until your return. Have a plan in place for at least a deposit in case of emergency.
Always check gate latches and locks before you leave. This will prevent your pet from escaping an enclosure after a brief walk or while anxiously awaiting the return of your pet sitter.
Planning ahead gives peace of mind, and time to enjoy your vacation without worry.
