As if veterinarians didn’t have enough competition already with online pharmacies and low cost clinics.
Walmart has a new online pet pharmacy, that launched at the beginning of this month.
Walmart announces that they will “bring the cost down on drugs for dogs, cats, horses and livestock. With over 300 trusted brands to choose from, treating conditions like flea and tick, heartworm, allergy, arthritis and more.”
The retail giant also plans on opening nine in store pet clinics as of late June in Dallas Fort Worth-Texas and expand to 100 locations over the next 12 months.
Walmart says with an in store clinic they will be able to provide low cost vaccines as well as high quality and convenient services at an affordable price.
This comes after Petco did the same opening their new in store clinic Thrive just last year.
The good thing is routine pet care is becoming more competitive and affordable for owners.
But always do your research before a problem should arise with your four legged family member.
You don’t want to be surprised with a pet illness or emergency and rush your pet to a clinic that may be limited costing you valuable time. As some conditions might still require a specialist or special equipment.
