Warning signs alert people of the swooping magpie.
As we get closer to Spring, we get closer to swooping season.
The Australian Magpie is a bird that is known to swoop down and attack if it feels threatened.
As Spring begins, so does the swooping.
Most often it is because they are protecting the nest, as most birds do.
However Australian Magpies are considered to be one of the most aggressive, so much that people are warned.
Because of attacks made by magpies, an eight year old decided to conduct a study to find out who magpies target the most.
With thousands of people participating, she found that balding men seemed to be attacked the most.
This study has spiked the interest of researchers, as nobody has ever made the connection before.
The one thing we do know for sure, is magpies are not afraid to swoop down and attack.
Although these new findings seem to hint that if you have thinning hair….Beware!
Swooping bird alerts can be seen posted on trails where magpies attack, and an actual site called magpiealert.com was created in Australia for hikers and bikers to report their attacks.
