  1. Saying good bye to the swallowtail butterfly.
This last one seen in my yard freed from a web, but off on it’s way.

As it gets colder our butterflies disappear. Swallowtails lay their eggs soon to be caterpillars, and then on to next years butterflies🐛🦋🌼

They can usually be seen in May and June and again in September through August.

  2. Imagine this beauty in your front yard!

Florida is the home for many reptiles.
It is said to have “the world’s most diverse population of non-native reptiles and amphibians, having 58 established species!”

So it’s not a surprise to see this colorful creature thriving in the Florida sun.

The “Rainbow Lizard,” also known as the Peters Rock Agame, is originally from West Africa, but is becoming more of a regular in Florida as they have been breeding rapidly.

  3. While snakes are surely terrifying to have around, the King snake is one that keep you safe from venomous snakes.

The King snake labeled for it’s ability to take on, and even feed on other snakes including rattlesnakes and copperheads, to whose venom they are immune.

This one resides in the backyard of one Escondido home

  4. The dragonfly is not only beautiful to look at, but a great addition to the garden as they feed on buzzy pests like flies and mosquitoes.

An aquatic insect, the dragonfly lives near water, so having a small pond in your garden is a sure draw.
Add some flowering plants to attract them, and keep them coming.

  5. This is the new addition to our outdoor terrarium. I love it!

Outdoor terrariums are so much fun!
But always make sure its kept up, so not to be a breeding ground for mosquitos.

Mosquitos can transmit so many diseases that can be harmful to both you and your pet.  The very well known zika virus that spread to people, and of course heartworm that can be transmitted to your pet.
Did you know there are over ten diseases that can be transmitted by mosquitos?

Fish are always a good idea in a terrarium, to keep mosquito larvae out of your pond. Along with a good filter to keep water clean and moving.

They are so easy to build, and when kept up so beautiful.  I don’t remember a Summer without dragonflies.
