Waiting on pins n needles, behind so many tears to have Tyson home and smiling again..
Please know how important routine xrays are for seniors. Last clear xray was done November 2017.
The size of splenic mass that grew in that time unreal! It had only been a little over a year. This mass weighed about three pounds! Yes things like this can and DO grow very quickly, possibly even within a six month time frame. That’s why it’s so important to pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, weight gain or loss. Or even like in my dog’s case diarrhea.
A real emergency, that could have been so much worse.
If it hadn’t been for three days of diarrhea, and a recommended x-ray because of his age, this could have taken his life.
Exams, blood work , and x-rays are all important for good health. So as we mark our calendars each year to maintain good health, and take our elderly every six months for health checks. Keep your pets in mind, as they are family too.
And being proactive is so much easier than dealing with an emergency that could arise, and the heartbreak because of it.
I sure wish that I had caught this growing six months ago. I am just devastated! My first response, “he just had x-rays not too long ago!” But it should have been sooner.
So grateful to Dr. Tanaka/ Dr. kaplan & the staff at Santa Fe Animal Clinic in Encinitas for taking care of my precious boy today as he recovers from surgery.
