If you have tried scheduling your pet for simple vaccines you know what I mean!  During the Covid-19 pandemic there are no longer any stand in line vaccine “clinics”
available, which means we all need an appointment  So don’t think your appointment will be scheduled anytime soon.  Call ahead to find out just how pets will be seen and don’t expect to see the veterinarian, as most do curbside with the vet calling via phone.  Have things written down prior to your visit and maybe some tape to point out lesions or lumps.
Have plans for senior pets in case that dreaded day comes to say goodbye. To be with your pet may be against some of their safety guidelines.
Consider in home euthanasia if leaving your pet is something you are unable to do. There are many in home euthanasia services that make saying goodbye much easier at home.

Will you be traveling with your pet??

When traveling take precautions. Remember road trips require frequent stops.  Gas stations, bathrooms, and pet potty breaks.  Try to make it a short trip.  Do not travel if you are sick OR have been around anyone who might have been sick.  Continue to wear a mask in public and use social distancing during your travels.
Follow CDC guidelines for travel as well as hand washing.
Bring your own supplies…. Toilet paper, hand sanitizers, soap, paper towels, and dog poop bags.
Check with hotels to see what guidelines they have put in place for guests, in order to be safe.  Be smart, don’t wait in crowded lobbies, wipe down door knobs and hotel remotes.  Maybe even bring your own travel coffee maker.

Keep in mind while traveling with a pet, that those who handle your pet may also put you at risk.  If you plan on flying never do this last minute, as pets need health certificates among other things.  Know that airline pet policies may have changed during the Covid-19 pandemic so check all pet policies BEFORE planning your next trip.

Be safe, plan ahead.  And those who are more at risk should always stay home.
